Having beaten the Kingstonian fifths at their lovely ground, and with them being jolly nice chaps we decided that we would have a go at their fourth team.
Things unfortunately didn’t go to quite to plan but it was a super day out with some new faces, namely Dolli’s chum from school (stories of slightly damp biscuits will wait for another day) and Nick’s chum (who plays for the Battersea Beavers, a likely SW Derby opponent for next year).
We fielded first- some nice bowling all round, with Henry picking up a deserved Michelle but we were slightly undone by a 61 off 33 balls by one of their bats. The Badgers also looked slightly weary in the field and not our usual spritely selves; this can be put down to mental preparations for the upcoming tour.
Having being set 204 to win in went Stew Mac and Hamblin. Everyone got a go, and got in, but unfortunately no one could quite convert their scores into a biggy with a variety of scores in the teens, twenties and thirties. Bam-Bam came in and looked dangerous but unfortunately ran out of partners (namely Cade asking for a rise up the order, got out for a silver duck, idiot).
A sad way for Robin to end his captaincy of the Badgers for 2014 ahead of a new Badger Cub (congratulations to Robin and Jessie on the birth of Rosie), but what a season he (and the Badgers) have had.
